Leslie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of De Corazón Counseling. She earned a counseling psychology degree from Nelson University and completed her clinical training at East Texas A&M University. Her early career in Dallas spanned roles as a drug prevention counselor, educator, and advocacy center counselor, where she provided vital support to victims and families.
As a bilingual practitioner, Leslie has always been a dedicated advocate and culturally sensitive liaison for the Spanish-speaking community. This strong commitment to community care drove her to establish her own practice in order to offer accessible therapeutic services.
Leslie’s clinical path expanded into a specialized calling when she began conducting immigration psychological evaluations. As an immigrant herself, she understands firsthand the life-changing impact of securing lawful status in the United States. Today, she leverages this deep personal perspective, alongside her advanced clinical interviewing and precise documentation skills, to craft comprehensive, evidence-based reports that support her clients through their legal journeys.
We collaborate closely with clients and their attorneys to provide thorough psychological assessments for complex cases, including:
Extreme Hardship Waivers & Family Petitions
We provide detailed psychosocial assessments for individuals and families and offer a culturally sensitive, empathetic environment to thoroughly document their unique dynamics and hardships.
Humanitarian Applications
Utilizing a trauma-informed, multi-session approach, we ensure individuals have a safe, supportive space to share their stories. This methodical process results in precise, highly credible evaluations for sensitive cases.
Leslie personally oversees every case from the first interview to the final report, fostering deep clinical rapport. Having navigated the shifting dynamics of immigration requirements for nearly two decades, she understands exactly what legal teams need. She crafts detailed, highly readable clinical briefs that rigorously document psychological realities, delivering credible, reliable evidence to support the vital work of immigration advocates.
Bridging Clinical Expertise and Legal Advocacy
We recognize that behind every legal petition is a profound human story and a family's future. By bridging the gap between clinical psychology and immigration law, De Corazón Counseling ensures that each client’s lived experience is honored and their psychological reality is accurately translated for adjudicators. Our evaluations go beyond simply fulfilling a requirement; they provide a comprehensive, evidence-based foundation that empowers attorneys to advocate effectively, while offering clients a compassionate, bilingual space to feel heard and understood throughout their journey.
